About

Cataloging rules! Without a quality catalog, a library would be unusable. How can a user know what is in a library without the catalog? I believe that the foundation of any library is its catalog.

Cataloging rules! From Panizzi to Cutter; or AACR2 to RDA; and CCO or DACS – we LOVE rules! Catalogers follow the rules, but sometimes rules are made to be broken. I believe in the rules, but also in catalogers’ judgement.

CatalogingRules is a blog for catalogers, metadata librarians, information architects, content strategists, database wranglers, organizers of all sorts and those who love us. I primarily discuss issues about cataloging in the library environment, but I’m not afraid to step out of the library to look at issues affecting our profession.

Enjoy!
